Accident Countermeasures and Crash Preventability Determination
Program (CPDP): The Accident Countermeasures and Crash Preventability Determination Program (CPDP) course is designed to help motor carriers, safety professionals, and commercial drivers better understand crash prevention strategies and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Crash Preventability Determination Program. Through real-world examples and practical guidance, participants will learn how crashes impact safety scores, insurance exposure, company reputation, and overall operational risk. This course explores the most common causes of commercial motor vehicle crashes and introduces proven countermeasures that can reduce accident frequency and severity. Topics include defensive driving principles, driver awareness, hazard recognition, distracted driving prevention, speed management, following distance, fatigue awareness, weather-related driving considerations, and post-crash response procedures.
In addition, the course provides a detailed overview of the FMCSA Crash Preventability Determination Program, including eligible crash types, supporting documentation requirements, video and evidence submission standards, and the review process used by FMCSA. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how carriers may request a preventability review and how successful determinations can positively affect CSA data and safety profiles.
By the end of the course, students will have a stronger understanding of crash reduction strategies, proper documentation practices, and how to use the CPDP process as part of a comprehensive safety management program. This training is ideal for safety directors, fleet managers, owner-operators, dispatch personnel, and commercial drivers committed to improving roadway safety and maintaining regulatory compliance. 1 hour of instruction. $99.
